Reverend Taurus L. Myhand is a native of Brundidge, Alabama.  After graduating as salutatorian from Pike County High School, he went on to Troy University and the University of Alabama at Huntsville graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. He also received extensive training in elementary collaborative education.  Currently, he is matriculating with honors at The Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia seeking a Masters of Divinity. After traveling to Brazil, he helped to develop a model for ministry for those affected and infected with HIV/AIDS. Reverend Myhand worked secularly as a special education teacher at Pike County High School. He served as a varsity football assistant coach for the 2005 State Championship team.  He answered his call to the ministry at the age of fourteen and was admitted on trial to the South Alabama Annual Conference. After five years of denominational studies, he was elected and ordained an Itinerant Elder in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. His current ministerial leadership positions include the East Alabama Conference Board of Examiners and the East Alabama Conference Finance Committee.

Rev. Myhand is now serving at his fifth pastoral charge.  His previous appointments include Saint Emmanuel AME Church (Eufaula, AL); Hopewell AME Church (Brundidge, AL); Allen Chapel AME Church (Skipperville, AL) and Saint Paul AME Church (Scottsboro, AL).  He is now serving proudly at Person Chapel AME Church (Midway, AL).  The Lord has truly blessed the ministry at Person Chapel and has empowered the church to evangelize on a level that is second to none. As a pastor, Reverend Myhand has the experience of developing outreach programs in the community and developing church growth programs within the congregation. Recently, Reverend Myhand, along with the officers and members of Person Chapel AME Church, set in motion plans to build a $500,000 Family Life Center in Midway that will offer a state of the art computer lab, full-court gymnasium, community outreach facility, and youth and senior recreation activities. He has a wonderful, talented wife (Denise) and three daughters (Britney, Blair, and Camille).
